
A comparative introduction to psychoanalytic self-psychology

In this lecture Dr. Corbett will describe the innovations that Heinz Kohut made to the practice of psychotherapy and compare his ideas with those of Jung. The lecture will describe Kohut and his major ideas and the ways in which he deviated from classical psychoanalytic thought.
Learning Objectives:
- A comparison of Kohut’s concept of the self with Jung’s approach to the Self.
- A discussion of the application of Kohut’s approach to practise of Jungian psychotherapy.
- An understanding of Kohut’s view of psychological development, including the importance of mirroring and idealization.
